I am a very happy wife right now – Paul made an outstanding dinner tonight and it took him no time at all! A very simple chirozo and eggplant pasta, with the addition of seared scallops to my meal. For someone who does not eat scallops, he is quite the expert at cooking them! Mmm, … Continue reading

Fine dining without leaving home
With a husband who cooks amazing meals, some days I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! Tonight’s pleasant surprise was Paul’s version of beef and reef for me – just beef for Paul, as he can’t eat shellfish (very unlucky!). The dish was composed of a celeriac and thyme purée, topped with scallops, … Continue reading
Tanjung Aru – take two
Following on from my last post about Tanjung Aru beach, I am pleased to report that our experience there last night was delightful. We arrived at about 5:30pm to catch the sunset – not as spectacular as the one that we witnessed the night before, but it made for an idillic spot none the less. … Continue reading
A tasty lunch at Alfresco poolside cafe
My tasty seafood claypot Paul chose the nasi lamak – lucky for me that it came with sambal prawns! Time for another dip in the pool and then I think a coconut will be in order…

Eyes too big for our bellies!
Once again, Paul and I stuffed ourselves silly at Suang Tain Seafood Restaurant. Tonight’s dishes were stir fried choy sum, scallops with ginger and spring onion, crab with salted egg, beef noodles, lemon crispy skin chicken and the fried eggplant that we sampled last night. Mmm, mmm, mmm! The aftermath!
Twin-Sky – one review that was on the money
We set off on foot last night to find Twin-Sky Seafood restaurant, or more specifically, Suangtain Seafood at Kampung Air. Having followed some reviews from both trip advisor and our travel guide book on this trip, I was not feeling confident. I am pleased to report that this restaurant did live up to the reviews … Continue reading
There is something fishy about this place….
There are fish everywhere! At Alu Alu, I found myself in seafood heaven – all manner of seafood in aquarium tanks as you enter and you have the treat of watching a vast array of fish swimming around beneath the restaurant as you dine. The sightings were constant and included Trevally, Tiger Groper, jellyfish and … Continue reading
